On October 30, Zhongnan Theological Seminary hosted a lecture series on "The Sinicization of Christianity," featuring Professor Meng Zhenhua from Nanjing University, who delivered a special lecture titled "Oral Law, the Talmud, and Rabbinic Judaism."
According to the seminary, Professor Meng used clear language and vivid examples to introduce the historical background of Rabbinic Judaism. Beginning with key figures and their stories, he illustrated the evolution of Judaism through history. In explaining the Talmud's philosophical framework, Professor Meng drew on specific cases and real-life scenarios, combining abstract legal discussions with philosophical insights to help the audience grasp the depth and wisdom of the classics.
During the interactive Q&A session, faculty and students raised questions about the relationship between oral and written law and the Talmud's modern relevance. Professor Meng responded thoughtfully and encouraged participants to explore the dynamic interaction between religion and culture further.
