World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) Secretary General Rev. Botrus Mansour completed a three-day official visit to Kazakhstan, from 9 to 11 September 2026, engaging local church leaders, participating in regional gatherings, and meeting with government officials to advocate for religious freedom and strengthen partnerships in Central Asia.

Bishop emeritus Dr Jonas Jonson, during a keynote address at the International Ecumenical Peace Convocation in Seoul, Republic of Korea, spoke on “Just Peace and the Vocation of the Church.” He began by positing that, even in apocalyptic times, believers are ceaselessly called to plant in faith what may blossom and bear fruit in an unknown future.

World Council of Churches (WCC) general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr. Jerry Pillay met with Prime Minister Han Seongsook of the Republic of Korea on 11 September in Seoul, where they discussed ways churches and the wider ecumenical movement could help reopen pathways for dialogue and peace on the Korean Peninsula.

Mansour said in the exclusive interview that although he has not yet visited China, he hopes WEA can continue to build relationship and trust with Christians in China. He also reflected on the role of Chinese Christians in the global evangelical family and the significance of the WCA within the WEA network.
